The
Bar-N Ranch & Cattle Company is a working cattle ranching operation.
It's main objective is the same as most Alberta cattle ranches, and
that is, to produce beef. The 1,700 commercial cows all contain a
strong Hereford influence which helps them to not only survive, but
thrive in the sometimes harsh conditions found in the rugged foothills
of the Rocky Mountains and on out into the rolling hard grass prairies
of southern Alberta. 
Crossbreeding
with purebred bulls for hybrid-vigor, the ranch uses Horned Hereford
bulls it produces from the registered herd, as well as purebred bulls
of other breeds to produce red baldy & brockle faced calves. These
calves have proven to be what the market wants. In the past three
years, our calves have topped the market with the highest price and
bottom line ever recorded at Balog Auction in Lethbridge, Alberta.
